Over Easter the national was at Great Yarmouth as I work Good Friday did not fancy going all the way down there and back in two days memories of Margate came flooding back, Carpet Paul said Scarborough Coasters where having a do over three nights, so me, Paul and Spongebob set off on Saturday dinner time in to the gales and snow forecast for the weekend, made good time even going into a strong wind and where in the digs for about 4ish,quick wash and off into the town, a bite to eat and a few beers round the local pubs we then made are way to the club where the do was at The Cricketers Arms, we where in a pub just down the road which was full to the brim with scooterists to be told that the do was full, we had a think about what to do but said we have come this far so lets have a look anyway, you could not get upstairs where the band where playing so we stayed downstairs where the DJ was spinning some good tunes before we new it they where calling last orders which for me was just as well as I seemed to be finding all the wet patches on the dance floor to slip on, next morning came round with a phone call to remind me what had happened at my house last night, it was decided I would come home,so after breakfast with Paul and Spongebob off I set, got 25 miles and after a phone call from home it was decided I did not need to come home of which I was glad as it had started to snow and the vodka from last night was just starting to wear off, got back just in time to see Man u beat Liverpool so we thought best thing to do was a walk round Scarborough and have a few QUITE beers ended up back at Cricketers and although there where not many at the do a good night was had with some top Ska songs on the menu we came out at last orders and got a taxi back to hotel, woke up to snow but it was clearing went for breakfast and set off for home we had a good ride apart from near Harrogate where we were riding in a blizzard, we went to Scarborough last year when it was a National I thought it was the worst rally last year ,but must say thought this year was great a lot of credit to Paul and Spongebob.
Cheers Chippy.

The week after its Easter 21st/24th the national rally is Great Yarmouth do not think anyone is going on this, so if we want we could have a ride up to the lakes on Easter Sunday 30th March, its the Vintage Motor Custom Show at Ryton-on-Dunsmore Coventry doors open at 10.00am if anyone fancies going to the show we can either go on scoots or maybe in cars some thing to discuss.
April 6th its a Lancs alliance ride meeting at Holmfirth 11.45 leaving at 12.00 we will meet at 9.00 and be leaving at 9.30
We have had three ride outs since last newsletter of which I have managed to get out of bed for, first off on a bright but very chilly day we ended going to Skipton, me and carpet fancied going to Supertune in Chester but got out voted by everyone else, must admit after ridding for about 1/2 hour it was the better option to go to Skipton as it was freezing we stopped at Gisburn so everyone could thaw there fingers and toes out ,we got to Skipton okay had a brew prob stopped longer than we normally do due to the fact Enty was not with us, hopefully things should be back to normal by April well as normal as his arse ever will be. On the way home got about 5 miles from Skipton when Tommy`s clutch plater went, so left him with a few worried looking sheep while he waited for the AA even though he had a long wait still did not beat Enty`s and loz`s record rest of us had a good ride home.
Next ride out we went to Rivington as we where going through Chorley Rednecks clutch cable went, which was greeted with a lot of laugher for some reason, got to Rivington to find about 6 power rangers and a couple of Spongebob`s mates on Harleys not long after we got there Greyhound S.C. turned up so it was full of scooter`s on way home we called in at mod shop.
Our last ride was to Blackpool to have a look at there best tourist attraction for a long time that ship on its side stop to have a brew then Spongebob brought us home the long way all three ride`s have been well attended a big thanks to everyone who has made the effort.
Saturday 8th we got a coach over to Ginger`s night do at Lowton 31 of the club turned out a good night was had by all especially Spongebob but will let him tell us all about that.

PART 2 “THE RETURN”
WE MET AT LANCS AND YORKS FOR 7.30. SOME EARLIER THAN OTHERS, TO GET IN 3 PINTS BECAUSE NONE COULD BE CONSUMED ON THE 40 MINUTE JOURNEY.
WE WERE ASTOUNDED BY CHIPPY’S RENTAL CHOICE OF EXECUTIVE TRAVEL, WHICH WAS A VAST DIFFERENCE TO THE SHED ON WHEELS FROM OUR PREVIOUS OUTING TO DARWIN.
15 MINUTES INTO THE JOURNEY HOWEVER, THE CHANCES OF US ARRIVING IN STYLE ON OUR NEXT EXCURSION SUFFERED A BLOW, WHEN REDNECK IN HIS PATH OF DESTRUCTION SMASHED THE TOILET LOCK TO SMITHEREENS.
STEPPING INTO LOWTON CIVIC CENTRE WAS LIKE STEPPING INTO 1952, WITH ITS TASTEFULL DÉCOR AND FAINT DECAYING SMELL.
THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EVENING WAS THE RAFFLE, HOSTED BY GINGERS WIFE, WHOSE JEANS SEEMED TO HAVE UNDERGONE MAJOR SURGERY BECAUSE THEY WER HEAVILLY BANDAGED.
THE DAZZLING ARRAY OF PRIZES ON OFFER INCLUDED, HANDBAGS, CLOCKS AND A PACK OF CARDS. JANE WAS THE LUCKY WINNER FOR US, WHO WON A TASTEFUL BIKER T-SHIRT
THEN THE DANCING STARTED, ENJOYED BY ALL INCLUDING A MYSTERIOUS YOUNG LADY WHO SEEMED TO HAVE BEEN TELEPORTED FRONM A POLE DANCING BAR IN IBIZA, WHO CLAIMED THE STAGE AS HER OWN.
ALL RETURNED SAFETLY, INCLUDING LUBY, WHO REQUESTED TO BE DROPPED OFF AT THE PRISON.
WELL…..
SAVES ALL THE PAPER WORK I SUPPOSE.

Ride out, Sunday 20th January 2008.
To THE MOD SHOP
Eccleston.
I guess it was a good turn out at the Lancs and Yorks because we missed you all, but we saw you all riding passed our street. (obviously we were late as well as chippy Brian) We headed back to pick up our scooter and thought we would meet you all at the Mod Shop. Nothing going well for us, (we had to get petrol Doh). We arrived at The Mod Shop later expecting to see all of you, but nobody there!!!!!. Something went right for us we got a brew and the best biscuits before you lot arrived ha ha.
10 minutes later the sound of scoots filled the air and round the corner you all appeared. I think Sean and Doddy are going to have to invest in a tea urn.
We had to leave early, but we heard through the grapevine that chippy Brian eventually turned up. (hurray)
We wish Sean and Doddy all the best with The Mod Shop and thank them for the Tea and Biscuits
Hope to do it again.
Shirley
Eccleston the long way, Sunday January 20th
The gods smiled down upon the assembled throng outside the Lancs and Yorks, who had gathered for the first rideout of the year to go to Sean’s Mod Shop in Eccleston, the long way round. Well they smiled down on everyone except Neil who ended up having to push his scooter home after discovering that both his gear cables had snapped. Given that it had pissed it down for days, managing to go out in the only three hours it didn’t was a minor miracle.
All we needed now was Chippy Brian to lead the way, but there was no sign of him. So Enty stopped showing photos of his roped off arse for a few minutes to give Monkey directions and off we went, certain that Chippy Brian was with us in spirit. Actually he was in sprit but only the ones he’d thrown up from the night before and was at home lying in. All went well as far as Euxton when Redneck decided he was leading the Fuckknows Scooter Club and raced up to the front, only to turn round at every junction with his arms up in the air going fuck knows which way now. So on we went to Eccleston via Standish, where Sean had got the kettle on and we had a welcome brew. In the absence of Enty we managed to stay longer than ten minutes without anyone asking “are we going now?” Just as well cos who turned up half an hour after the rest of us had got there? Chippy Brian. Must be desperate for the points for furthest travelled.

MESSAGE FROM REDNECK TO SEAN AND DODDY, YA CUPS NEED A GOOD F- - - - - - CLEANING.
The bollockoff ride,
Sunday Febuary 2nd
So successful was last year’s ride to Southport when it was cold enough to freeze yer bollocks off, we decided to do it again, only with a much longer route. January clearly wasn’t cold enough so we waited to the start of Feb when the temperature had dropped below freezing point, and the gales were strong enough to beach cross channel ferries in Bispham. No mechanical problems to overcome this time though, and no twist and goes turned up either, wimps. Mind you some nice shiny new 125s on show while you can still get them. Chippy Brian made it and off we went towards Tarleton and Rufford and round via Burscough and Ormskirk, which was a bit worrying as I couldn’t remember if I had screwed my wheel covers on. You know it’s cold when you get to the chippy on the front and there aren’t any bikers clogging up the place. Greasy wimps. Enty hadn’t come again so we had more than ten minutes to get sausage and chips down us before heading back along the A59 with nobody coming off as a gale ripped across the road from the fields next to it. We also managed to avoid the coastal road this year as well, so in the absence of having it sandblasted I’ve cleaned my scoot!

BAMBER BRIDGE FOOTBALL CLUB - EXEC BOX
(FREE BEER & FOOTIE)
The exec box is booked for Bamber Bridge Scooter Club members & guests for the Bradford Park Ave game on 16 February 2008.
Bradford Park are presently second in the table as I type this. Brig are third and playing some excellent, really entertaining football so it will be an excellent day.
Price is £20 per person, and it comfortably fits about 25 people. Dress is 'come as you like', jeans and trainers are fine.
This is a really good day out, the sponsors room has recently been refurbished and is now very comfortable with new carpets, re-decorated and a large screen TV to watch the results & half time scores.
The official blurb says –
Enjoy unique hospitality in the exclusive first floor newly refurbished sportsman’s lounge with high level view of match.
The package consists of:
Free entry to game for all members
Complimentary programme for all members
Complimentary bar (from ½ h before kick-off to ½ h after final whistle)
Hot pot, peas & red cabbage at half time (veggie option available)
Nomination & Presentation of Man-of-Match award
Acknowledgement in match day programme and via PA System
Strangely it doesn't mention the fabulous oppportunity to get very drunk and then abuse the team manager (Enty).
We can also hang club banners from the box to let everyone know who we are.
Note: The complimentary bar normally consists of a choice of beer, lager and/or wine, although if you drink something else (eg cider) let Neil Green know at least 2 weeks before the game & they’ll get it in for you.
More info via - http://www.bamberbridgefc.co.uk/matchspon.htm
Deposits to Neil Green ASAP please - first come first served and this will be popular.
Why not pay £10 or even £15 now, then when it comes to middle of February when you haven’t been out for a while it doesn’t cost much to have a really good day out!??
From the Jam…
53 degrees, Friday 30th November.
I first went to see the Jam in July 1977, just after they had split from the Sex Pistols tour and gone their own way. They played at Middleton Civic Hall and I can remember sending my dear old Mum down to get me tickets. The last time I saw them was on their final tour in 1982, by which time they were THE Mod band, and you just bought every single without even hearing it first. I went on my first ever scoot, a blue PX 200 E which I parked up outside with a line of others before going indoors in my oil stained parka.
So when it was announced that Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler had got back together without Weller to perform the original Jam material, you had to wonder if this really was going to be a case of ‘all a mod con,’ from what is half living legends and half a tribute band. I couldn’t be bothered in May but got offered a ticket for Friday night so I gave it a go.
Having negotiated the Black Bull, Dog and Partridge, and Travellers Rest we got into the venue and into a strange mix of audience of mainly ageing punks and mods, with Ben Sherman and Fred Perry dueling with sex pistols t shirts. I sought of got the idea it would be a strange mix when the first people I bumped into were Connors and John B at the bar! Very strange indeed.
After some dodgy DJ had stopped rabbiting into his mike the band hit the stage and as if to make a point, launched into All Mod Cons and began working their way through a set drawn from some class album tracks as well as the obvious singles, and even the odd b side with Butterfly Collector. It turned out to be no con at all with a tight band working the crowd, and by the time they had got through six or seven numbers each gap between songs was being filled with chants of “we are the mods, we are the mods” taken from Quadrophenia and something I hadn’t heard since I went to see Ocean Colour Scene and Geno Washington on their trip to the seaside tour.
Finishing with Eton Rifles and Going Underground, they came back on for a four number encore of Down in the Tube Station, In the City, The Gift and last but not least A Town Called Malice to leave all the Billy Elliot fans ballet dancing all the way home. Whatever else they may be, even without Paul Weller this was far better than any tribute band I have ever heard, and they came over as the real deal.
The Lancashire Alliance has got them booked for the Southport Weekender next June and on the evidence of this, if you haven’t got yourself booked in yet then get moving because I reckon it’d going to be a great night.
Fully Paid Up Dave.
