Hopefully you guys are, as always, up for this. Early notice but better than too late.

Meeting at The Shawes Arms from Midday onwards, where pies etc will be on we'll set off at 1pm on Normans mystery route ending up at RPH Childrens ward with any selection boxes/gifts we can manage to collect. There will be a car/van following us up there so dont be afraid of bringing a bag full of goodies.

Everyone will be invited back to the pub after the ride and were hoping to have a patch or badge made up on behalf of 'both' clubs to support the hospital ward.As usual all clubs and solo riders are more than welcome there may even be a bike club joining the ride.

Cheers

Unfortunately I've just found out that our 'first choice' Santa now can't make it, so can we please have another volunteer to play Santa? Its an easy job and you will get full support ie talked through the route, etc, beforehand. THANKS IN ADVANCE

ALSO - below is the list of 'pointing marshalls' that have already volunteered to help out. As you can see there are still a few more marshalls required, so if you can help please volunteer.

You will be given a yellow waistcoat and can then either ride behind Santa on the run or go straight to your selected place, park your scooter up, then stand (in a safe place) and point in the direction the scooter convoy needs to go. Nice & safe, no blocking junctions or running red lights. Then when everyone has gone through you just join the end of the convoy & finish the ride to the hospital.

1) White Bull up Cuerden Lane – Neil Green

2) New Hall Tavern down side of brewery – Phil Entwistle

3) Vicarage Lane down onto A59 – John Addy

4) Top of New Hall Lane opposite Homebase – Norman

5) End of Queen Street – Wack

6) Manchester Rd roundabout - Brian Hamilton

7) Junction (bottom of) Manchester Rd & Church St - Chippy Brian

8) Top of Corporation St opposite Debenhams - John Billy

9) Bottom of Corporation St opposite Aldi / Poundstretcher ……………….

10) Junction of North Rd & Ringway (pointing up A6) ……………….

11) A6 outside Vets (near Wickes DIY) ……………….

12) A6 junction with Sharoe Green Lane (near Black Bull pub) ……………….

This info is also on the PWSC website so 'first come first served'.

Thanks

Despite all my best efforts I'm probably the right shape to play Santa, so if no one else wants to do it.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help marshall at the Selection Box Run. The last bit of the list is completed below.

For those of you who are marshalling that I haven't managed to speak to, if you have a 'hi viz' waistcoat / jacket please could you bring it with you on the day. If you don't have one we will lend you one.

Any questions just ask on here or see me on the 11th.

9) Bottom of Corporation St opposite Aldi / Poundstretcher  - ROBBO

10) Junction of North Rd & Ringway (pointing up A6) - JOHN D

11) A6 outside Vets (near Wickes DIY) - Stop & catch up spot

12) A6 junction with Sharoe Green Lane (near Black Bull pub) - LEE LUBY

Cheers

Just a quick update

Weather is looking good for tomorrow - raining overnight & in the morning, then clearing late morning & should be dry by the time we set off from the Shawes.

A couple of marshalls have dropped out so we may need a few more, I've loads of hi-viz vests (thanks Lauren!) so please don't be shy to come over & volunteer.

Thanks, see you tomorrow

Thanks very much to everyone that turned out for the Selection Box Run today, with about 70 scooters and LOADS of selection boxes we’ve really made a difference to a lot of kids Christmases.

A special thanks to our fantastic Santa (Dave Howarth) who was absolutely spot on, even came to visit a scooter rider up on the wards after the presentations.

Also a big thanks to all our wonderful marshalls who did a great job getting everyone there and back safely.

We’ll definitely be doing it again next year, so if you’ve any thoughts on how it can be improved – whilst its fresh in your mind – please post below.

Thanks again, have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year
